Review:I really had a hard time putting this one down. From the first pages, I was drawn into Jimmie's world, full of relatable friends, self doubt and familiar awkwardness. I became so engrossed in his character that at times I had a pit in my stomach waiting for the hammer drop, because guys like Jimmie don't catch a break.
Troy Young has created a fantastic protagonist and surrounded him with well developed characters, whose odd connections had me pondering many times how things were going to go sideways. I love this aspect of Troy's writing style, because it kept me wanting to dive deeper down the rabbit hole.
I am normally a nighttime readers - getting through two or three pages before drifting off. Thank goodness I started reading on a Friday, because I was up half the night and polished it off the next day. I highly recommend it.

Review:All I can say is wow! This book got me from page one and never let go. The characters introduced were all intriguing and wonderfully brought to life by the author. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone and am looking forward to reading more from Mr.Young.
❤❤🧡A FASCINATING READ ! 5/5
Jimmie Mayfield has the habit of waking up with a protocol that makes him happy : frosted flakes, diet coke and a cigarette.
"That’s life" he thinks happily.
Jimmie Mayfield lives with his mother in the latter’s trailer.
Without a goal in life and without a job, he survives without really asking any questions until one day a series of events will change his life...

Jimmie Mayfield is going to Washington! Or so he hopes. In the unlikeliest of twists, Jimmie throws his hat in the ring in the battle for the Senate. What is he thinking? How does someone who, just a few short months ago, was sitting on his patio enjoying a cigarette, Diet Coke, and Frosted Flakes while contemplating his insignificance, suddenly seek public office? Will he win the heart of fair Myrna? What from his jumbled past lurks, ready to bring him down? Jimmie's absurd story continues with the lighthearted crudity we've come to love.
The Devil wants out. After millennia of being the bad guy, it's time for a career change. He meets God for coffee to discuss a change in position. This irreverent tongue-in-cheek satire explores the dynamics of good and evil and the dichotomy of thought in modern religion at a time when more and more people are changing their personal views on religion.
If you are looking for a funny, short read on normally taboo subjects, you've found it.
"Marvellously benign, ridiculously inventive and gloriously funny." This is what the Guardian said about Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman's "Good Omens." Will they say that about this? Probably not but there are definitely parallels in style and tone. If you like the one, you may just like the other.
Goodreads Review: 4/5 stars
An Interesting Concept The concept caught my eye and once reading, the humor kept my attention. I thought the book to be well written, thought provoking, and quick enough to finish in one sitting. Would definitely recommend...
5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and thought provoking Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2020 Verified Purchase I found this short book humorous and thought provoking. I have always wondered what it might be like to have a face to face conversation with God. If you're wondering why Jesus hasn't come back yet, it's because He's pissed. I could see that. These few pages will not appeal to everyone, (no book does), but many will find it worth their time.
